Chaktomouk
Chaktomuk is a geographical term that refers to the area in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where the Tonle Sap, Tonle Bassac, and Mekong rivers converge. The word “Chaktomuk” translates to “four faces” in Khmer, representing the four rivers that meet at this point.
People in Phnom Penh frequently come and sit facing the water. I guess it has meaning and cleansing power in the hectic lives of Asian megacities.
The series was commissioned by the Photo Phnom Penh Festival in 2010.
