biographic info

Krzysztof Zieliński was born in 1974 in Wąbrzeźno (Poland). He graduated from the Department of Still Photography at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague. He holds BA (1999) and MA (2001) diplomas with distinction in Fine Arts Photography.

Since 2000, Krzysztof Zieliński has been active as an artist within the documentary photography frame. He examines universal questions of identity, origins, and belonging in a globalised and ever more digitised reality. An artist often returns to places (or persons) from his own past, using them as catalysts for existential explorations.

Zieliński’s photographic works have enjoyed substantial national and international recognition. The highlights include solo shows at the Zachęta National Gallery in Warsaw (2004) and the Centre of Contemporary Art in Toruń (2009), as well as participation in international art exhibitions with the Sao Paolo Bienal and Prague Biennale, among others.

Krzysztof Zieliński lives and works in Berlin.
